Latest Update
Monday July 24, 2000

Welcome to The Whill Journal: Special Edition.

There was much anticipation leading up to the release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Accordingly, many 'prequel' sites sprang up on the Internet; some good, some not so good. There were many common reports, pictures and themes to be seen on most of them. It became apparent that a large group of fans could begin to believe in their own self-perpetuating rumors more than the actual facts as they were presented.

While I was (and still am) a fan of that speculation, and thought much of it was accurate, the main purpose of this site is to cover exactly what we do know about the next Prequel film. Hence, there are a series of topics under the SW: Episode 2 section:

  • Fact: All the information in this section comes directly from official Lucasfilm or individual actor's press releases/interviews.
  • Evidence: The best source of divination; quotes from the screenplays and novels are presented and appropriately annotated.
  • Rumor: Loose talk abounds on the Web. Here, the latest and greatest rumors about SW2 are gathered.
  • Logic: In this section, we the fans use our deductive reasoning to separate the wheat from the chaff.

This site may make a few prequel rumor-junkies angry, but that is not the intent. I am in no way condemning other prequel sites, in fact I have a list of several that are extraordinary. However, I do want to present as factual and methodical an approach as possible to the information presented to the fans by Lucasfilm.

Please make sure to bookmark the Latest Update section for future reference, as that page will always be the most current. Latest information appearing in any section will be in teal font.

One beef that I do have with a lot of SW news sites is the repetition of the obvious or the reporting of the insignificant or nonsensical. This site will strive to present you only with pertinent new information.

Let me know your questions, comments, or gripes at whilljournalist@hotmail.com. An attempt will be made to answer all mail, and pertinent commentary or questions will be posted in the Forum for discussion.
