Rumor:
Fact: "Once again to be written by George Lucas, Star Wars: Episode III promises to be the darkest installment of the new trilogy. Ewan McGregor will return as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Natalie Portman will once again portray Queen Amidala. Lucas will direct Episode III, which is scheduled to begin filming in Sydney, Australia in June, 2003. The films current, tentative release date is May of 2005. Like Episode II, Episode III will be shot entirely on digital media. ILM will yet again provide special effects." -Star Wars: Episode I Insider's Guide Palpatine declares himself Emperor. The Emperor orders the purge of the Jedi. "Inspirational and committed to the cause of freedom in the galaxy, Senator Mon Mothma becomes the conscience as well as the leader of the Rebel Alliance. As a representative in the Galactic Senate, she was one of the youngest members ever elected. She served with vigor and integrity, and was a leader of those forces opposed to the growing power of Senator Palpatine. After Mothma's secret involvement with the Rebellion was discovered, only a tip from Bail Organa allowed her to escape from Coruscant just ahead of the Imperial secret police." Evidence:
Logic: After Concord Dawn the Mandalorians are defeated, but the Galactic Republic is frightened and allows Palpatine to further secure his martial policies. The Jedi have been decimated. Darth Sidious double-crosses and betrays Palpatine, stealing his position and power in the Galactic Senate. The Sith and Mandalorians are eventually defeated, but there is great suspicion and resentment toward the now decimated Jedi after the end of the Clone Wars. Palpatine begins a campaign of a massive military build-up, convincing the people of the Republic that a conventional military is what will protect the galaxy, not the archaic and suspicious Jedi. The people are behind their beloved leader, but unbeknownst to them, Palpatine / Sidious orchestrated the whole bloody war in order to thin out the Jedi ranks and consolidate his/their dictatorship with martial law. The Jedi are painted as self-serving, high-minded ineffective traitors and officially ordered disbanded by Palpatine. |
